A MAIN road into Taunton is due to reopen later today (Thursday, August 14) after emergency repairs were completed ahead of schedule.
Priorswood Road has been closed to traffic between Nerrols Farm Lane and Maidenbrook Lane since July 28 for repairs to collapsed culverts running under the road.
However, the bulk of the work has now been completed and the road will reopen at 5pm today.
Temporary traffic lights will remain in place while the final elements of the scheme are finished.
Cllr Harvey Siggs, Somerset County Council’s cabinet member for highways, said: “I know our teams have been working long hours to get the road reopened as quickly as possible and this is great news.
“Emergency road closures are frustrating for everyone, but sometimes it’s the only option to make essential repairs.
“Thank you to all those working on this project and thank you to drivers and local residents and businesses for their patience.”
