A NEW business owner from Taunton has praised the work of the Government and Sure Trust after helping him set up his dream business from home.

Darren Lancaster, who is disabled and cares for his wife and two young children, has just launched an online fishing tackle store so that he is able to work from home.

The launch comes after Darren was left to appeal against a fit to work assessment carried out by ATOS, which claimed he was fit to work despite being confined to a wheelchair after a motorbike accident ten years ago and being the carer to his epileptic and agoraphobic wife and their two children, aged seven and five.

He successfully appealed the assessment and since then the Government and Sure Trust have been helping Darren to set up his business at home, to help him combine work with his day-to-day care duties.

He received £900 from the Government and Sure Trust to help him find stock and set up and hopes to have his business up and running shortly.

Mr Lancaster said: “I have ordered the first lot of stock and it will hopefully be going live in the next two weeks.

“It is a scary prospect but it is exciting as well.

“I am hoping it does really well and takes off.”
