ONION Collective are putting out a call for people who would like to be part of a community workshop for DIY.

People interested in fixing broken machinery, inventing new things, model making, electronics, tinkering, or who would like a place to get together and help each other out are encouraged to get in touch.

Their proposals for the development of the southern portion of East Quay include a ‘makerspace’, which is a rent-abench style workshop space for anyone interested in mixing, fixing and reparing.

There would be access to shared tools and equipment, and a chance to pass on knowledge and expertise.

Jessica Prendergrast, Onion Collective director, said: “We know West Somerset is full of talented people with a wealth of skills, and we have heard over and over again how people would like to be able to pass those skills on to the next generation to help them in their own futures.

“We are hearing from lots of businesses and individuals running their own ventures who need studio, workshop or office space which is great, but we also need to hear from ordinary people, too.”
