DANCING queens from D.r.e.a.m.s School of Dancing and Performing Arts in Minehead are celebrating after gaining top marks in their recent dance exams.

Proud parents and principal Dianne Turner looked on at an awards presentation by Jane Sefton, a governor from Knights Templar School. Sizhu Chen, Peggy Bishop, Kaelyn Cross, Rose Gee, Isabella Melhuish and Sophie Sefton received a Distinction in their preparatory ballet and also gained their Theatre Craft Rosettes along with Rosie-May Powis and Charmaine Allen-Stewart.

Bethany Morby and Jodie Prescott got top marks for their Grade Two ballet. Sophie Elston, Amy Miller, Tamsin Ferguson and Yasmin Turner did well in modern jazz, Miss Turner receiving a Distinction.

Tamsin Ferguson and Amy Miller received a Distinction for their Grade Five ballet and Sophie Elston and Yasmin Turner also gained a Distinction for their Grade Six ballet.

Ruby Sowden, Kaelyn Cross and Sophie Sefton were Highly Commended for their musical theatre exam.

Maddy Brimkley, Tamsin Ferguson, Yasmin Turner, Amy Miller and Sophie Elston were Highly Commended for final Stage Five of musical theatre.

Issy Macfalane and Liz Fletcher wowed with their tap routine, both gaining Honours for their First Gold Bar Duo Award.

Diane Turner said: “The results are outstanding and I am very proud of all my pupils for their hard work.”

The graduate students who have successfully completed all of their ballet grades and musical theatre stages are now progressing towards Classical Ballet Awards, medals, Pointe work and teaching qualifications.

Pupils are now rehearsing for their Variety Show at the Regal Theatre in Minehead on October 4 at 7.30pm and October 5 at 2.30pm.
