PEOPLE were able to get a glimpse of how a community sports hub at King’s College, Taunton, will look at a drop-in event.

The sports hub, which has £500,000 of National Lottery Sports Improvement funding, will house four indoor cricket lanes and a multisport surface suitable for futsal, netball, basketball, badminton, athletics, fencing and handball.

Councillors, representatives of sporting organisations and local people attended last week’s presentation.

King’s headmaster Richard Biggs said: “I am pleased to have the support of many Taunton sporting organisations for the new sports hub, which will not only benefit pupils at the school but also many other local community sports clubs who need more indoor sports space.

“It was good to discuss the very positive impact that the development will have on Taunton with district councillors Norman Cavill and John Williams.”

The facility, which is subject to planning permission, is expected to open next September.

The Sports Hub is being funded by Sport England and King's College, along with donations from alumni, parents and friends of the school.
