A SIX-YEAR-OLD girl was taken to hospital for treatment for burns after getting an electric shock from a lamp-post.

Holly Barratt, of Ashbrittle, was watching Wellington Carnival from the Barley Mow car park at Rockwell Green when the incident happened.

She was taken to Musgrove Park Hospital where she was treated for burns to fingers on her left hand.
Her dad, Mark, told the County Gazette Holly has still not recovered sensation in her fingers. She went back to hospital yesterday (Wednesday) for a check-up and may have to have an operation to remove dead skin.

Taunton Deane Council said it was investigating and had “worked with the owners of the pub on making the area safe as a priority”.

Barley Mow landlord Terry White said: “We’re very sorry for what has happened. We’ve had an electrician come out and fix the lamp-post and he has deemed it safe. We’ve spoken to the council and are complying with them and environmental health on the matter.”
