ANTI-Badger cull protesters will be given a boost tomorrow (October 10), when Bill Oddie and a team from the League Against Cruel Sports join them in a patrol.

Somerset Against the Badger Cull, have been meeting every evening since the cull began last month patrolling the zone in West Somerset.

Anyone wishing to join them can do so by meeting at Williton Car Park at 7pm.

Members of SABC said: “The visit is timely particularly as Sue Mountstevens has confirmed that Avon and Somerset Police is investigating the shooting of Badger 41.

"Our members are very concerned that many badgers will have been shot or killed inhumanely without any proper assessment at the end of this cull by an Independent Expert Panel.

"But over and above this, we question the whole scientific basis for the cull which seems to be driven by political expediency rather as a valid means of tackling the bTB issue in cattle.”

Joe Duckworth, chief executive of the League Against Cruel Sports added: “The strength of public feeling against the shooting of badgers in Somerset and Gloucestershire is immense, with individuals from all walks of life coming together to voice their opposition and help look out for our black and white friends.

"The on the ground badger groups and patrols demonstrate just how determined people are, and like us are not prepared to take this shambles of a policy lying down.”
