GHOSTLY goings-on will be taking place at Dunster Castle this month.

An after-dark Hallowe’en ghost tour will take visitors through the National Trust property, with many strange, unexplained and eerie happenings.

From creepy corridors to the haunted Inner Hall, brave inquisitors will enter into rooms, lit only by the flicker of candlelight, to hear the strange and unsettling tales that have befallen the castle, and those who have worked within its walls.

There will be stories of a seven foot tall male skeleton, found in the pit dungeon, and an elderly apparition, thought to be a former butler who has often been seen sitting in his old chair in the butler’s pantry.

The castle has worked in partnership with the Somerset drama groups @2k Theatre and Taunton Thespians to add an unexpected twist to the tours.

John Lax, visitor service manager, said: “This will be an evening to scare yourself silly and enjoy some frightening fun.”

The Ghost Tours will be taking place on October 29 and October 31 from 6.20pm until late, the last tour taking place from 10.50pm.

The cost is £12 per adult and £6 per child, with a 10% discount on groups of 15 or more.
