CLOTHES shoppers at Asda’s Taunton store might recognise the name behind some of the patterned knitwear.

The collection by designer Thea Sanders, who is from the town, has gone on sale at George outlets nationwide in Asda.

Thea, 23, had been working in the knitwear and denim departments at online retailer Asis as a year-long protégée after she son the Stuart Peters Visionary Knitwear Award at the Graduate Fashion Week 2013.

She was then headhunted by Asda a year ago to design a capsule collection called Thea Rose based on her competition-winning collection.

Thea, who is now working in London, said: “We took some of my collection and simplified it and made it more commercial.

“Then they sent samples to be made and there were probably about 15 different designs.

“They chose nine of the pieces to be made which was great.”

Thea, who is a graduate from Nottingham Trent University, said Asda has told her some of the pieces sold out soon after going on display.
