A LEADING housing association has been shortlisted for an award for a project it currently runs with young children in Wellington.

Knightstone Housing Group, who own the majority of the Westford Grange estate, is in the running for the Community Achievement award at this year's 24Housing Awards - an event which highlights the efforts of community groups.

Their project 'Dreamscheme' is a youth initiative which has allowed younger people to take part in activities such as creating a community mosaic, painting pictures for the local nursing home residents and planting bulbs as part of Wellington in Bloom.

Jane Edmonds, assistant director at Knightstone, said: “We've worked with Avon & Somerset Police since January 2012 to hold regular activities with the young people on the estate and anti-social behaviour is now down significantly. We regularly have over 20 children coming to every session.”

The Westford Grange group have also starred in Knightstone's film about the business, Little Castles, which shows how the Dreamscheme has impacted on them and their community.

The awards ceremony takes place in Birmingham on Thursday, November 6. To find out more visit www.knightstone.co.uk
