TAUNTON Prep School ended the autumn term on a high note – with seven children selected for the National Children’s Choir of Great Britain.

Another pupil was picked for the National Children’s Orchestra of Great Britain.

Headmaster, Duncan Sinclair, said: “Having spoken to the NCCGB, I am absolutely delighted to report that this is a virtually unprecedented achievement.

“It would appear that only one other school has had this many representatives join the choir at any one time in its long and illustrious history – and that was Taunton Prep School!

“This is a magnificent and highly commendable achievement which reinforces our Artsmark Gold status, and fully endorses the wonderfully professional and highly motivated work of the performing arts department”.

The seven choristers - Philip Pullicino, Alice McVicar, Jessica Stacey, Daisy Downham, Charlotte Hicks, Katie O’Dowd and Annabelle Lewes - will be rehearsing and performing at Shrewsbury School over the Easter break and at Loretto School in Edinburgh in the summer.

The children are all in the school’s Cantabile Choir.

Meanwhile, Daniel Lloyd Jones has been offered a place in the National Children's Orchestras of Great Britain's Under 13 Orchestra for 2015.

This will be Daniel's third year with the NCOGB.
