THE Tacchi-Morris Arts Centre is hosting Space Fest’s “stylish and touching comedy” The Monster In The Hall next week.

Written by David Greig, the show tells the story of Duck, who is 16, and whose name is short for Ducati, her dad’s monster of a motorbike, which he keeps in the hallway. A machine much loved by her mum who died.

Her Dad loves pizza, horror films and computer games; he has MS and his sight is getting worse. They are just about surviving until Duck learns that social services are visiting and could put her into care. Now the Monster in the Hall turns into a metaphor for the things in life we can’t face.

The Monster In The Hall takes its cue from “The Duckettes”, a slick 1960s rock and roll singing group. Expect laughter, tears, and plenty of opportunities to tap your feet.

Tickets are £8 (concessions £6/ students £5). Phone the box office on 01823-414141.
