NICK Boles, Minister for Further Education and Skills, Nick Boles visited Taunton’s Richard Huish College.
Mr Boles, joined by Rebecca Pow, Prospective Conservative MP for Taunton Deane, met 10 apprentices, students and principal John Abbott.
He spoke of how an apprenticeship can offer an excellent route into a career and you can study for higher level qualifications without the need to go to university.
He said only 14% of employers in England take apprentices and he wants to see that increase to 20%.
Sumona Haque, business administration apprentice at Blackbrook Surgery, said she had been unable to secure an apprenticeship so enrolled on the traineeship programme through Huish.
