AN EXCITING project from the Exmoor National Park Authority will be officially launched on Thursday, March 19, at The Beach Hotel in Minehead.

‘Get Involved on Exmoor’ aims to showcase the opportunities and projects on Exmoor.

Project co-ordinator Jess Twydall said: “We are very excited to be launching Get Involved –showcasing some of the fantastic opportunities and projects there are here on Exmoor.

“The event is open to all, particularly organisations who are on the lookout for volunteers, as well as those who are interested on what goes on Exmoor.

“No need to book and no obligation to sign up as a volunteer!”

Among the organisations which will be represented on the day are Exmoor National Park Authority, National Trust North Devon, Calvert Trust, Moorland Mousie Trust, Cowbridge Forge Museum and Sawmill, South West Lakes Trust, Butterfly Conservation, North Devon Voluntary Services, Engage West Somerset and many more.

There are more than 50 types of volunteering opportunities with the National Park Authority alone, including Pathwatchers scheme (footpath wardens), education volunteers to support Big Adventure Days, Seashore Safaris, tour guides for Porlock, Lynton, Lynmouth and Dunster, oral history /memory recorders for all of Exmoor, photographing and reporting on sites of historical interest/monuments, Your Exmoor – videoing active Exmoor, what you get up to out and about – kayaking, horse riding, hunting, wildlife surveying, footpath sign painting at Exford Depot and summer work experience placements with a focus on Exmoor’s Woodlands.

Jess added: “These are just some of the opportunities to Get Involved with us and there are dozens more with the fantastic organisations that will be there on the day so why not come and find out more, we look forward to seeing you.”

Everyone is welcome to the event, which takes place from 5pm-7pm.
