A NUMBER of road signs have been turned round in Stoke St Gregory, the parish council heard at its March meeting.

Somerset County Council’s highways department will rectify the signs and look into a more permanent solution if the problem occurs again.

The meeting was also told that more robust and powerful solar lighting is being installed in Dark Lane, which is the route to the village hall.

The lights were requested by parishioners and much of the money was provided through the county’s Recovery of the Community fund.

The possibility of a ‘village gateway’ structure from the North Curry direction is being explored in conjunction with the Willow and Wetlands Centre and it is hoped it would have a traffic calming effect as well as being an attractive way of marking the entrance to the village.
