HOUSEBUILDER Taylor Wimpey has made a generous donation of £1,000 to the Somerset Crimebeat Trust.

The trust is led by the current High Sheriff of Somerset Richard Lloyd, and he has helped raise more than £25,000 during his year of office.

Mr Lloyd said: “Our objectives are to support local Somerset youth projects and as a consequence help reduce crime in the community involving young people.

“Last year, approximately £25,000 was distributed in grants of up to £1,000 to local enterprises throughout Somerset and I am very keen to make sure we can continue to benefit local communities through youth crime reduction.

“Taylor Wimpey’s generosity will make a real difference to helping young people in Somerset improve their lives and the communities in which they live.”

Recent projects supported by Somerset Crimebeat Trust include providing sports and music equipment and supporting various indoor and outdoor activities.

Keith Simmons, managing director of Taylor Wimpey Bristol added: “We are delighted to support Somerset Crimebeat Trust, which does such fantastic work helping young people avoid crime, making the county a safer and better place to live.”
