A COUPLE shopping for a brand new replacement for their 47-year-old sofa spent just £5 on it after the salesman ripped up the £1,113 bill.
Lindsay and Lorna Fortune, of Taunton, spent a fiver on the ‘Give Me Five’ raffle in aid of Children in Need at the Dfs store in Taunton.
They’re now sitting pretty as they watch television from the comfort of their Kendel Plaid Wing Chair.
Lindsay said: “We’re absolutely delighted.
“I gave the £5 because I thought helping children and young people in communities across the UK, through BBC Children in Need projects, was the right thing to do.
“I never thought I’d win. It certainly looks like we are living up to our surname.”
Dfs store manager Mark Withers said: “We’re delighted that we’ve been able to give something back to Mr and Mrs Fortune in return for them helping Dfs raise money for disadvantaged children and young people right here in the UK, many of whom are supported by projects in and around Taunton.”
