A DEVON and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said the incident was "scaled down" at 11pm last night, Saturday, March 28.
He added that fire crews struggled to gain access to the fire due to limited access tracks and unstable surfaces.
He said the large fire was in a forestry plantation and scrubland on a steep hillside.
FIREFIGHTERS have been tacking a large blaze in West Somerset this evening, Saturday, March 28.
Crews were called to Nutcombe Barton, Dunster, at 7.03pm to reports of a fire involving open ground and woodland.
People in the area were advised to keep their windows closed due to smoke and the fire being fanned by strong winds.
