A TOTAL of £3,784.54 was donated to the Somerset Unit for Radiotherapy Equipment (SURE) charity last week to help buy equipment for the Beacon Centre cancer unit at Taunton’s Musgrove Park Hospital.
Among cash given via collection pots was £4.21 from the Premier Garage, Cross Keys; £29.20 from Taunton Garden Centre, Norton Fitzwarren; and £43.58 at Taunton Pool.
Angela and Mike Rees handed over £217.40 in lieu of gifts for their golden wedding anniversary.
There was £1,500 each from the Moose International Ladies Circle in Taunton and the Moose International Taunton Deane Lodge.
There was an anonymous donation of £50 in memory of a brother and sister.
Collections of 5p coins included £20 from Clare Pile and family, of Minehead; £13 from Mr and Mrs P. Stroud, of Taunton; £14 from Caroline Dykes and friends Darren and Melissa; £24.50 from Jan Biddiscombe and friends; and £52 from the people of Porlock.
Other donations included £30 from Gillian Knight, of Bridgwater; £100 from Mrs A. G. Luttrell, of Crowcombe; and £186.65 from the Beacon Centre collection, including £160 in 5ps.
The total collected since SURE linked up with the County Gazette now stands at £517,152.38.
