TAUNTON St James Players are thrilled to announce that their recent performance of Aladdin raised £1382 for Somerset Sight and the St James Church Hall appeal.

The players donated half of the ticket sales and also raised money through bucket collections.

Somerset Sight got a share of £822.

Jenny Wakefield from the Players said: “We were delighted to support Somerset Sight and the St. James Church Hall appeal.

“This year for the first time, the pantomime was produced in the church, with the space transformed by staging and light, a feat which required a large willing team of church members.

“It is a great pleasure to be able to raise money for Somerset Sight, a valued and essential local organisation.”

Becky Fry, development officer for Somerset Sight added: “We can't thank the players enough, it is a brilliant amount of money.

“Every year we support 2000 sight impaired people in the county and we rely hugely on local fundraising.”
