CREECH St Michael Parish Council has received a donation of young trees from a garden centre in Somerset.
Monkton Elm Garden and Pet Centre hosted a sapling giveaway for worthy causes and has presented the trees to the parish council to help improve Rec Park.
Ken Hunt, chairperson at Creech St Michael Parish Council, said: “The Parish Council owns the Rec Park in Hyde Lane and we were looking for trees or bushes to plant there to benefit local people and wildlife, which is why we put ourselves forwards for the sapling giveaway.
“We’d like to say a huge ‘thank you’ to the garden centre for its kind donation.”
Andrew Pitman, store manager of the garden centre added: “Our sapling giveaway has once again been hugely successful and we had lots of people come forwards for the free trees.
“It’s extremely interesting to read all about the different gardening projects going on. We’re delighted to have helped Creech St Michael Parish Council with improving Rec Park.”
