THERE’S a week left for people to have their say on the possible ban of drinking alcohol or taking legal highs in public places in Taunton.

Taunton Deane Council is running a consultation until next Thursday, April 30, into introducing a Public Space Protection Order that would outlaw the use of “intoxicating substances” in the town centre and areas around Priorswood Road through to Toneway and Blackbrook Way.

Check out the proposals at http://t.co/v4h4UeSisn and pass on your view via e-mail to safeworking@tauntondeane.gov.uk or by post to Scott Weetch, Taunton Deane Council, The Deane House, Belvedere Road, Taunton TA1 1HE.

If the order is adopted, anyone committing a breach could receive a Fixed Penalty Notice or face a fine in court, while police and council enforcement officers would have the power to demand the surrender of the intoxicating substances.
