Police are asking for your help tracing down the man pictured above after a shop in St James Street was the victim of a late-night burglary on Monday (May 4).

Officers say say two men broke in and stole a safe containing cash at around 10.30pm, with the culprit also causing damage valued at around £750.

The infra-red pictures distort the colour of his clothing so that can’t be accurately described, but in the second picture it appears the suspect has a tattoo on his lower back as shown by the arrow when he crouches down.

A second man was believed to be with him.

The suspect may also have been responsible for a burglary on April 23 at the Belvedere Trading Estate, at about 10.15pm, in which a quantity of coffee and soft drinks were stolen after the burglar climbed a fence and broke in, police added.

If you have any information about the identity of the suspect or the burglary, please call PC 504 Stewart Cuthbert on 101 quoting crime reference 45984/15.
