CHILDREN at Bishops Lydeard Primary School took part in a skipping fest – to learn how to get healthier and fitter and to raise money for two causes.
The Jump for Heart initiative involved 207 pupils, who practised their techniques in the days leading up to the event, which is run across scores of schools nationwide.
The event is run by the British heart Foundation, with 80% of sponsorship going to the charity and the rest to individual schools.
Bishops Lydeard sports coach Jo Berry-Roper said: “The jump off gave our pupils a lot of pleasure.
“Skipping takes me back to my own time at school and it’s energetic, fun and skilful.
“We’re always trying to encourage healthy habits through PE and this has been a fantastic event for the whole school.”
