WHO'S responsible for leaving this mess in a field in beautiful cvountryside?
That's what a council is keen to discover.
Environmental health officers are sifting through bags of rubbish dumped by a flytipper in in an attempt to catch the culprit.
This pile of discarded items was spotted by a postman on his rounds in a field at Trull early on Saturday morning.
As well as the bags of rubbish, there were also a mattress, a duvet, an old heater, a hi fi system and strips of metal.
District councillor Mark Edwards, who lives in the village, said the mess has been cleared away by the DLO, but council staff will be looking for evidence in a bid to bring the offender to justice.
"It's dreadful - appalling," said Mr Edwards.
"I can't believe there won't be some proof in the bags that will lead us to whoever was responsible.
"It's completely unnecessary. The stuff could quite easily have been taken to the recycling centre.
"The council needs to go ahead and prosecute the person if it discovers who did it and they could then face a significant fine."
