THE last day of term was the end of an era for eight students at Queen's College, Taunton.

Ben Rigg, Frank Spurway, Archie Jeffery, James Mcleod, Phoebe Wadman, Kate Hanmer, Amelia Sturt and Holly Brown bid farewell after 14 years - they've all been at Queen's since the nursery and reception classes.

They are all planning to attend various universities across the country.

Before leaving they attended speech day, where the speaker was Old Queenian and global expert in risk mitigation Lloyd Figgins.

Mr Figgins encouraged students not to fear risk but to instead prepare for it, explaining that failure was at times inevitable but should be seen as an opportunity to learn, develop and move forward.

Year 13 students then joined parents, governors and teachers at the end of term Summer Ball.

Headmaster Chris Alcock said: "It is wonderful to see students grow and develop in confidence during their time at Queen’s.

"To see students’ progress right through the school and leave with fond memories as well as academic and co-curricular achievements is highly rewarding.

"We wish all our students the best of luck in the future, and hope that they keep in touch."
