STUDENTS from West Somerset College travelled to Bridgwater College Academy for a peer mediation course.

Over 20 students from Year 9 applied for the role and nine were selected after an interview.

The course examined the day to day role and expectations of being a peer mediator.

The students will hold restorative justice meetings between their peers who have had altercations and fallen out, to resolve problems with positive outcomes for all parties.

Bridgwater College Academy holds the Princess Diana Award for peer mediation and Earl Spencer is patron of the school. West Somerset College will now work closely at building relationships between the mediators between the two schools to ensure West Somerset College extends its team of mediators across all cohorts and across the 6th Form.
