A CHRISTIAN volunteer group that support the families of 40 Commando Royal Marines at Norton Manor Camp has received a £400 boost.
Cllr Mike Rigby has presented a cheque from Somerset County Council’s health and wellbeing fund to president Sue Burr and lead co-ordinator Mandy Habgood.
Mandy said: “This was a real morale boost for our volunteers, particularly as it comes so soon after we had been given a highly commended certificate in the Taunton Deane Star Volunteers of the Year award last month by Engage Somerset.
“Our volunteers really have a heart to help the wonderful wives and families of 40 Commando who have a tough life while their men are away on deployment.
“Any funding we receive goes towards volunteer training and providing seven days a week assistance through a confidential telephone helpline.”
