A SIXTH former leaver from King's College has won an apprenticeship with MP and business secretary Sajid Javis.

Lillie Grant, 18-years-old, applied for the role after undertaking volunteer work for another MP.

She was selected along with 15 others to be interviewed by three of Mr Javid's staff.

Having made the shortlist of two, Lillie was then invited to interview with Mr Javid and was delighted to be offered the apprenticeship.

She will be an apprentice for 12 months, providing an administrative assistance, managing social media, and helping with campaigns and other projects.

On completion, Lillie will have the option of moving on to become a full parliamentary assistant to another MP, or to go to university.

Lillie studied history, drama and English at A level and now awaits results before embarking on the journey into the world of politics.

King's College headmaster Richard Biggs said:“This is wonderful news and I congratulate Lillie warmly on her achievement.

"She has been selected from a large pool of applicants for this exiting post and we look forward to hearing how she gets on in the coming year. Interest in politics has been growing at King's.

"We held a very successful mock election in May, which got a large number of our pupils involved in thinking about and debating current political issues. Lillie's appointment is a fitting climax to a very interesting political year at the school.”
