THE Taunton branch of the Royal British Legion is commemorating the 70th anniversary VJ Day - when the Japanese surrendered to end the Second World War - with two events on Sunday, August 16.
There is a civic service in St Mary Magdalene Church at 10am, with guests requested to be seated by 9.45am.
And there is a concert at The Lawns Social Club, Mary Street featuring the Gershwin Gang Jazz Band from Bristol and singer Betty Holliday from Weston.
The concerts starts at 7pm - entrance is free, but there will be an exit collection in aid of the RBL. The doors open at 6pm and the bar from 6.30pm.
