AN ACTION-PACKED force open day will showcase the incredible work of people across Avon and Somerset in September.

The open day at Portishead HQ will feature budding fashion designers, disabled sports stars and volunteer cadets.

There will be plenty of opportunities for visitors to get involved, including getting to drive in a police car and meet the police horses and dogs.

Sarah Crew, Assistant Chief Constable said: "The open day is a celebration of all that is positive, creative, innovative and talented in the young people of Avon and Somerset.

"We are proud of the talent – the young sportsmen and women, the artists, the performers, the musicians, the volunteers – from every corner of the force.

"Alongside the fun activities, we are committed to understanding, being empathetic and professional in our response to young people.

"We want to hear their views on policing and work in ways that appeal to them, to help keep the next generation of Avon and Somerset safe."

Young people can also give their views on policing and the crimes they most want the police to tackle.

Police and Crime Commissioner Sue Mountstevens added: “I’m delighted that the constabulary will once again be opening its doors to say thank you to you for your support, as officers, staff, families, friends and residents.

"It’s a privilege to be showcasing the talent and skills of our fantastic young people across Avon and Somerset.”

Open day tickets are free and are available from aspopenday.eventbrite.co.uk.
