WE asked people in Taunton's Goodland Gardens for their views on the gulls - here's what they said.
Kathleen Jones: "I love them. We have one with a broken leg that lives on our shed. He sits there and waits to be fed. Gulls are God's creatures and aren't a problem."
Katie Kitching: "They're a bit of a nuisance. They're very noisy and make a lot of mess. They pull the bins bags apart and scatter rubbish all over where we live in Portland Street. But the gulls are worse in Cornwall and Lyme Regis."
Peter Coakes: "They're a bit of a bother and the population seems increasingly large for a landlocked town, maybe because of the amount of rubbish we throw away. We're restricted what we can do about it because some of them are an endangered species, so you can't just shoot them."
Max Bishop: "They're an absolute pain. It doesn't help when people feed them. They make a lot of noise early morning. They grab food out of people's hands in the park. I'd like them to go home - to the sea."
