BREWHOUSE Theatre were set to be the subject of censorship thanks to a decision by the Deane's leisure and recreation committee.

Peter Horsford, a lay reader, said he was particularly disappointed by the theatre's attitude towards the performances of clairvoyance and psychic art staged the week before.

THREE early 19th century Lime Kilns at Ford, near Wiveliscombe were set to be restored and preserved with the aid of a £1,000 grant from Taunton Deane Council.

A WAR of words broke out between pro and anti-hunt groups in West Somerset over whether the practice of using relays of dogs to chase down lone stags was illegal.

Allison Hawes, regional director for the Countryside Alliance, said: "The law makes it clear that hunts are allowed to use two dogs at any one time.

"There's nothing in the law that says you can't change the dogs."

A COMPETITION to find the oldest Bible in Taunton was won by Mrs Haste, whose edition was published by the Oxford Press in 1715 during the reign of George II.

WORK was getting underway on the new £38m surgical block at Taunton's Musgrove Park Hospital.

The new block would include operating theatres, four 28-bed wards

featuring single en suite rooms, critical care services, intensive treatment

and high dependency units, clinical workstations and replacement

car parking.

A BUDDING environmental film-maker from Somerset, Abbie Barnes, had just returned from filming a seven-day trek up Mount Kilimanjoaro in Tanzania with three of the world's leading eco-scientists.

KIND weather and plenty to see and do meant attendance was at a record for Wiveliscombe’s 100th Horticultural Society Show.
