STAWLEY Primary School is celebrating an outstanding OFSTED inspection, which was carried out in March.

The school received gradings of good and outstanding in all areas of the inspection and was described in a report as "a good and improving school with many outstanding features."

Overall effectiveness, achievement and standards and quality of provision were marked as good with personal development and well-being, curriculum and other activities, care, guidance and support and leadership and management all marked as outstanding.

The report states: "Stawley Primary is a good and improving school with many outstanding features.

"There is a very positive and purposeful atmosphere which encourages pupils to work hard and be successful.

"Pupils greatly enjoy their education."

Under the heading of personal development and well-being the report states: "Pupils greatly enjoy their education and become confident and articulate learners who are well placed to move on to secondary school."

And the report reads: "The school has a secure and caring ethos and there are comprehensive arrangements for ensuring pupils' health, safety and protection.

"Consequently pupils feel safe and are confident about approaching staff for support and help if they feel unhappy or anxious. Pupils with significant learning difficulties or disabilities are guided and supported very effectively by teachers and teaching assistants."

The report suggested that the school could improve sentence structure, punctuation and spelling in pupils' writing so that they achieve higher standards in English by the end of Year six.

Head teacher Linsay Gabriel said: "I'm very pleased with it all, we have come out really well.

"The children were all very well behaved and this is a reflection of all our hard work, the teachers, the pupils and the parents."
