FOUR supporters of the SAVES (Somerset Accident Voluntary Emergency Service) charity are travelling 2000 miles and climbing over 5000 metres to raise some much needed funds.

The team will leave Taunton on Thursday, September 17 and visit all 39 Historic Counties of England in under 160 hours.

If this were not enough they will also be climbing the highest peak in each County as the minutes will be ticking away.

One of the team, Phil Rigden, said: “We are doing this fundraiser to support SAVES who provide an amazing voluntary emergency service in Somerset for major incidents and major trauma outside of hospital. They have attended many incidents over their time including the tragic M5 crash in 2011.”

Dr James Hickman MBE, Chairman of SAVES, said: “This is a fantastic challenge and a very generous gesture. I wish them every success.”

The team hope to raise over £30 per hour - enough money to help provide vital new monitoring equipment for the voluntary doctors.
