A FIRE broke out in a toilet cubicle at West Somerset College on Tuesday forcing one person to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation.
The students were evacuated while two Minehead fire crews attended the incident at the school at 2.40pm and got to work extinguishing the fire using a hose reel jet and two breathing apparatus.
A spokesman for West Somerset College said: "The fire services were called to West Somerset College this afternoon due to a small fire on the College site.
"Due to the robust systems in place all students and staff were quickly evacuated and assembled safely.
"The Principal would like to commend the staff and students on their calm, sensible behaviour during the evacuation.
"The Fire Incident Commander who attended the scene complimented the College on their excellent, smooth procedures."
The college's senior leadership team are now investigating the cause of the fire with the help of the fire service.
