TEN Taunton Preparatory School pupils completed a challenging swim across the Solent.
They crossed the three-miles from the beach at Fort Gilkicker, in Gosport, to Ryde on the Isle of Wight, a distance of just under three miles.
The swim was the toughest test yet for the inaugural members of Taunton School Long Distance Swimming Club.
It was also was the penultimate event at the Prep school in support of Aspire, a charity supporting people with spinal injuries, and the conclusion of TPS Swimathon Week.
All ten swimmers completed the crossing in under 90 minutes, which organisers said was one of the fastest group crossings they had witnessed.
Annabelle Lewis, Freya Tyler, Emily Lawton, Mimi Lecompte, Poppy Hutchins Oliver Halliday, Skyla Coate, Emma Hounslow, Jonny Cole and Archie Sellick were accompanied by TPS staff and safety teams.
Earlier in the week, the TPS Swimathon saw pupils collectively swim 4,975 lengths, the equivalent of 3.5 times across the English Channel, to raise money for Aspire.
They are now planning to swim the Channel itself next year.
