COMMUTERS are being warned of traffic hold ups on a road into Taunton after a lorry shed part of its load of mud.

The incident in Ilminster Road is causing tailbacks, with traffic down to a single direction.

Police are currently on the scene.

An Avon and Somerset Police spokesman said officers attended after being called at 8.15am today (Thursday, October 8) to reports that a 20-tonne lorry had shed part of its load.

He added: "It appears it was carrying soil and some of its load was shed onto the carriageway.

Officers are in the process of sorting it out."

He said that one lane is currently blocked, while recovery is being arranged for the lorry and the soil will be cleared as soon as possible.

No time has been given as to when the road will be fully re-opened.

Further updates will be posted as they become available.
