AN autumn ball organised by Sheila Maundrell, of Burnham, raised £2,258.58 for Somerset Unit for Radiotherapy Equipment (SURE), which helps equip the Beacom Centre cancer unit at Taunton#s Musgrove Park Hospital.
Donations to collection pots for the County Gazette-backed charity were £15.42 from Tesco Express, Lisieux Way, Taunton; £24.79 from Best Buy Outdoors, Burnham; and £56.05 from Londis, Bridgwater.
Collections of 5p coins amounted to £9.45 from Miss Lenton, of Bridgwater; £30 from Smeatharpe WI, Churchinford; £55 from Joanne McNulty and friends of Chard; £203.30 from the Beacon Centre; and £57.30 from Culmstock WI following a talk from a SURE representative.
There was £220 from West Buckland WI following a social evening; £458.61 from the Bridgwater and District Agricultural Society from a ploughing match; £8 from D. Sherlock; and £5.04 from Polly Bale and Pat Willoughby.
This week's total of £3,401.54 means £557,748.54 has been raised since SURE teamed up with the County Gazette.
