There has been an icy start to the day as the first real frost of winter saw temperatures drop below zero last night and this morning across Somerset.
Mild air from the Atlantic Ocean and cold air from continental Europe has been battling it out across the UK, with Somerset avoiding the snowfall that has left other parts of the county with a dusting of flakes.
Church Fenton in North Yorkshire had the most snow lying at an official weather station, with 16cm recorded.
The temperature is set to rise through the day with tomorrow set to be warmer, and weather is set to return to milder November weather by the weekend with highs of 11C expected.
