SOMERSET'S Young Famers clubs have celebrated raising an impressive £29,000 for local charities in 2015.
The announcement came at the Federation AGM, held by Brymore Academy on Wednesday, November 11.
The money raised has gone toward charities including Chrildren's Hospice South West, The Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance and Musgrove Hospital.
A spokesman for Somerset Young Farmers said this figure was all the more remarkable as members have to fundraise to ensure the running of their own clubs as well.
The clubs also raised £10,000 to repair the office roof of the Somerset YFC Headquarters.
At the event the YFC welcomed new officers into post for the coming year with Wayne Pople of Polden Hills YFC as chairman.
Other presentations awarded by the president Wendy Welland include Quantock Vale YFC winning the BOCM points shield for non-sports/agricultural events, meanwhile Wellington and Taunton YFC were crowned hockey winners and awarded the St Audries Trophy.
