THE wind and rain failed to keep visitors to Wellington's Christmas Lights event away on Saturday evening.
The town was ablaze with lights and people getting into the Christmas cheer.
There was a whole host of events taking place in the run up to the switch-on event at 7pm.
The Majorettes led Santa into the town on his sleigh and the Pantomime Group kept everyone in the festive mood with song performances from their upcoming show and Christmas tunes.
St Johns School performed a short nativity scene accompanied by Beech Grove School Choir singing carols.
The town tree was being donated by Langford Lakes.
Wellington Mayor Janet Lloyd said the weather meant the turn out wasn't as good as in previous years but that there was still a good attendance.
She added: "It all went very smoothly and I thoroughly enjoyed it so I hope everyone else did as much as me.
"We've just got over the carnival season and I think we're now well and truly into the Christmas season."
