SANTA wasn't going to be put off by a bit of wind and rain.

He still managed to turn out and take up his spot in his Magical Christmas Grotto at Taunton's Castle Hotel.

He braved the foul weather that led to the postponement of the switch on of the county town's festyive lights on Sunday.

A total of 112 children turned up to visit the man in red.

Blackbrook Primary School choir sang some songs, while Castle School teacher Mel Beale also sang along.

There was face painting, a raffle and sweet stall, as well as merchanidse for the Think Amy road safety charity.

Organiser Jane Hofmeister said: "We were sponsored by Hyundai dealer Staceys Motors and would like to thank all of the families and children and staff from the Castle Hotel for coming out to support our campaign."
