FIVE pupils at Wellington School have been successful in securing Oxbridge offers as they look on to the next stage of their education.

Charlie Pemberton has an offer from Cambridge University for classics, Catherine Bridges has an offer for classics at Oxford, William Langdon has an offer for biological sciences at Oxford, Kieran Wachsmuth has an offer for physics at Oxford and Lydia Buckingham has an offer for mathematics at Merton College, Oxford.

“We are incredibly proud of Charlie, Catherine, Kieran, Will and Lydia’s achievement in receiving offers from Cambridge and Oxford Universities, particularly given that Oxford University received a record number of applications this year,” said Henry Price, headmaster of Wellington School.

“This is a reflection of not just their significant academic potential, but perhaps more importantly of the many years’ hard work, commitment and dedication to their studies that has brought them to this point.

“As a classicist, I am delighted that we have two pupils taking classics next year and have had a number over the years moving to Oxbridge or Yale to study this rewarding subject.

“Whilst some independent schools have decided not to offer classics, the continued success of our students proves that they are enthused by and rise to its challenges. “At Wellington School, our dedicated and experienced staff work extremely hard to support all our students in their university choices and guide them through the process so their expectations and hopes are realistic and achievable.

“It is so rewarding for all the staff when these hardworking and talented students receive Oxbridge offers, and I warmly congratulate them on their success.”
