A brand new charity shop has opened in Taunton town centre this week.

Brainwave, a children's charity, is now situated on Bridge Street as from February 8, and has a whole range of celebrity donations ready to be snapped up.

Among the celebrities to donate is Brainwave’s Parton Olly Murs, who’s given away a selection of his cast-offs.

He said: "Brainwave is an amazing children’s charity that is very close to my heart, and I’m very proud to be their Patron.

"Every penny goes such a long way with Brainwave and I have donated some of my clothes to be sold to help raise additional funds.

"Brainwave have opened a new store in Taunton where these will be on sale, if you’re in the area check out some of my old clobber and help a very deserving charity."

Other celebrity items up for grabs are signed hats from Chris Robshaw, former captain of the English rugby team and his partner, classical singer Camilla Kerslake, Olympic medalist Sharron Davies and singer, Susan Boyle.

Cerys Matthews of the Welsh band Catatonia has donated a signed album.

Brainwave, which has a local centre in Bridgwater, hosts physiotherapy, occupational therapy and language and speech therapy.

Phil Edge, CEO of Brainwave, said: "In order to make a difference to the lives of so many families in the South West, Brainwave relies on the generosity of its supporters, not least those who help our charity shops by snapping up bargains, giving us regular donations to sell and by volunteering to help with the day to day running of the shops.

"We’re so grateful for the generosity we receive from both the public and our celebrity supporters and I’d like to take this opportunity to thank them both in enabling the Brainwave Centre in Bridgwater to help so many children.”

The new Brainwave Charity Shop is at 14-16 Bridge Street, Taunton.
