ORGANISERS of a green event this summer say they will frown on anyone turning up in a car.

The Green Scythe Fair is looking for volunteers to help at the Green Scythe Fair at Thorney Lakes, near Muchelney, on Sunday, June 12.

The fun day includes the West of England Scything Championships and is run without fossil fuels or mains electricity.

It will feature unplugged music, crafts, healthy food, local beer and cider, environmental and social charities and organisations, and a bicycle MOT with a 'Get you Home' service.

A spokesman said: "Visitors who hike or cycle receive special treatment, whilst drivers are frowned upon so manning the main gate requires special diplomatic skills.

"Electric cars however would meet the Green criteria set by the committee."
