FALKLANDS War veteran Simon Weston is giving a talk in Taunton to boost a forces charity.

Go Commando, which supports Royal Marine families, is hosting the Taunton leg of his My Life My Story national tour at Queen's Hall, Queen's College, on Friday, May 6.

Simon will tell his own story of events that changed his life forever - the highs, the lows and how he set about rebuilding his life following the fateful day he was on board the stricken naval vessel RFA Sir Galahad, destroyed by enemy fire.

The evening is being held as a charity fundraiser for locally based Royal Marines charity Go Commando, which is about to launch ‘360 for GC-Because We Care’ to raise £360,000 to create a new Family Community Centre in close proximity to the home of 40 Commando Royal Marines base at Norton Fitzwarren.

The facility will not just be available to military families but also the local community and is already gaining great interest and momentum from partner agencies supporting the project.
