PUPILS, teachers and governors at Trull Primary School weren't deterred by the pouring rain as they went for a run to support a cancer charity.

The 260 youngsters aged four to 11 walked, ran or jogged to raise hundreds of pounds for Cancer Research UK through the event on the village playing fields on Friday.

It was part of the Race for Life schools programme running nationwide in partnership with Tesco.

Trull head teacher Karen Wedlake said: “Race for Life is a great addition to the school timetable and the children have been really looking forward to the event.

"The whole school supported the event and it was a real team effort and a great day out for parents, pupils and staff, all whilst raising money for a seriously good cause.

Somerset County Gazette:

“Most of us know someone who has been touched by cancer and we all have our special reasons for taking part and wanting to help more people survive.”

Schools across the UK are holding their own Race for Life events in aid of the charity on a date and over a distance of their choosing.
