CHILDREN who take part in a free six-week tennis training progamme at Trull Tennis Club will get a free racket.
The initiative is funded by the Lawn Tennis Association, which has trained 1,000 coaches nationwide, including John Barrington and Kim Sadler in Trull, to coach youngsters with no previous formal tennis experience.
Club captain Dave Hill said "This is a fantastic initiative by the Lawn Tennis Association, the Great Britain Team played a fantastic tournament last year and many will have been inspired to have a go at tennis.
"The difference with this initiative to get kids playing is that through it, we are able to offer free coaching, and, a free racket followed by discounted junior membership of our club.
"This is something that makes tennis a truly affordable sport for all.
"Obviously I have an ulterior motive - I am always looking for talented players for our junior and senior teams, perhaps some new tennis talent will be found during this initiative."
The Trull Tennis for Kids course starts after school on Tuesday, May 17 and anyone interested in attending needs to sign up via the LTA website at https://clubspark.lta.org.uk/tennisforkids
