DISTICT councillor Roger Habgood will be nursing a few sore muscles next week.

He's spending the Bank Holiday weekend walking 100 miles in 48 hours with no sleep.

Mr Habgood, who serves on Taunton Deane Borough Council, is among 500 people taking part in the Long Distance Walkers Association event in Broadwey, near Weymouth.

All the money he raises will go to one of the Mayor's charities of the year - the Children's Hospice South West.

Mr Habgood, who only recently completed the Rotary Club of Taunton/s 50-50 Cycle Ride, said: “I enjoy walking and am looking forward to the challenge.

"It is especially rewarding when you are doing it for a good cause and I hope to raise as much as I can for this very deserving charity.”

Mayor of Taunton Deane Cllr Vivienne Stock-Williams said: “I am delighted that Cllr Habgood has chosen to raise money for Children’s Hospice South West and would encourage everyone to support him.

"I wish Cllr Habgood, and all the entrants, an enjoyable walk in good weather.”
